Mass Rally Held in Argentina Against Job Cuts in Labor Ministry

A major rally and event took place today at the headquarters of the Secretariat of Labor, Employment and Social Security (STEySS) of the Nation. This was in response to the imminent publication of a downsizing plan within the framework of the approval of a regressive labor reform. "This reform puts at risk the historical functions of the agency and hundreds of jobs throughout the country," stated ATE delegate Daniela Frencia. Workers from the agency, along with union and social organizations, participated in a show of solidarity. The event was held under the slogan "In the STEySS, NO one is expendable!" Representatives from the territorial agencies of the AMBA read a document prepared by the National ATE Coordination - Labor to highlight the fundamental importance of the federal deployment of the agency's policies and to make the voice of the ATs from across the country heard. In closing, ATE-Trabajo's General Delegate, Daniela Frencia, exposed the objective of destroying labor rights behind this attempt to dismantle the STEySS, as a complement to the sanction of the regressive and exploitative labor reform. The event concluded with a greeting from Taty Almeida (Mothers of Plaza de Mayo - Founding Line) to all the workers present and an emotional 'pañuelazo' in memory of the 30,000 disappeared detainees, on the 50th anniversary of the genocidal military coup.
